My daughter Caroline started learning guitar with John Flynn
for her transition year (2010-2011)
and during that year gained a love of the guitar
and advanced to a level way beyond reasonable expectations.
Now in her second year of guitar she has sufficient proficiency
and confidence to go busking by herself and is improvising
with confidence. I, as a musician myself, am very impressed
with John's teaching method. I don't know of any other
guitar teacher who could bring a pupil to this stage
of proficiency in such short a space of time.

I went to lessons with John Flynn when I was 14 for roughly 4 years.
To say I wouldn't be anywhere without his tuition is an understatement. Right from the start he set me on a course that improved my guitar playing each week while introducing me
to songs and styles of music that I loved.
I had been to lessons before going to John but he taught me
how to play, right from the basic chords up to improvising my own solos. His lessons were focused, I was constantly improving
and expanding my playing each week, where as previous teachers
never gave me that focus or desire to improve and work hard.
Learning the guitar is a challenge,
and it never stops being a challenge.
U have to work hard to get something out of it.
What john did for me was to focus my work on areas where
I could feel myself getting better.
That encouraged me to continue because I felt
I really was getting somewhere.
I have been playing professionally for nearly 5 years
and know I have so much more to learn.
Thanks to John however I have a platform to progress further.
Thanks again mate!

DAVE McPHILLIPS, LEAD GUITARIST - THE CORONAS

I started taking lessons from John 6 months ago having never really played more than three chords ( badly ) in  my life. John is a fantastic teacher and as a beginner I was delighted that within four weeks I was playing tunes and strumming properly. He is a patient and supportive teacher and I love my lessons and feel inspired to practice.

"I came to John knowing one chord, and within a few months
was playing solos, and after a year, improvising.
Incredibly helpful, talented, and easy to work with,
John Flynn is, simply put, a phenomenal teacher.
It'll be a tough quest to find another equally as talented."

"John's approach to teaching bass provides the musical, creative
and theoretical skills required of a bass guitarist
who wishes to be a contributing and integral member
of a band rather than just make up the numbers.
Without undermining the importance of technique,
John places an emphasis on musicianship, writing basslines
and explaining the role of the bass guitarist.
A better teacher and nicer man you will not meet."

"I had my first guitar lesson with John when I was about 14 years old. I was immediately comforted by the fact that he was so open minded to hear what I wanted to play and, through this, found a way of laying a solid foundation to build on for my later guitar work by using songs I enjoyed to keep me interested rather than a dull, rigid and jaded syllabus. From Hendrix, Cobain, Gallagher, Jones, etc, John was always in his comfort zone when teaching me and this instilled a confidence in my playing which I then married with the lessons he taught me and which I have now taken and made my own. I have no doubt he has been a major positive influence in my development as a musician. He is friendly, open minded and empathetic
and I cannot recommend him highly enough."

"I had been playing the guitar for 14 years and still could not progess to playing any tunes that went beyond the 3rd fret. Within 10 lessons with John I was playing bar chords, finger picking styles and vamping tunes I never dreamed I would be able to do. John gave me the confidence to believe I could take on tunes I previously thought were beyond my ability, while having the patience to explain and demonstrate how to get the best out of my guitar'

"I began my lessons with John Flynn from mid 2007 until mid 2009. In my years as a bass player, what I've learned under his guidance has been a benchmark in my musical development. Every lesson I attended was extremely informative in all aspects, and he always pushed my musical capabilities. In those two years of tuition, the difference in my abilities and confidence as a player were vast and immensely positive. Highly recommended to all levels.

Thanks John.

John was an excellent teacher, and I could not recommend him more. I tried many teachers before I went to John, and for the first time I felt I had met someone who knew exactly what I wanted to be capable of doing with the guitar. His no nonsense, friendly, understanding approach helped me to improve alot in a very short period of time. I had spent a few years before this with various other teachers, who's courses would not lead anywhere, and where it seemed I was not advancing.. With John, he has a specific course he wants you to complete and when he feels he can't teach you anymore, he tells you. Again, could not recommend him more!

KARL HUSSEY - LEAD GUITARIST - THE FUTURE KINGS OF SPAIN

I started lessons with John about two years ago after playing in bands for about 4 to 5 years. He immediately recognised flaws with my technique and holes in my knowledge of theory and went straight to work in these areas. What i enjoyed most about John's lessons was his ability to zone in the aspects where i myself wanted to strengthen and focused on that which meant i in turn was focused and enthusiastic about lessons. I also found it refreshing that when my preparation wasn't up to scratch he held me accountable, due to the fact that he genuinely cared about my progress. I'm a much better player now and its because of John and would reccommend him to anyone who would listen.
